I love making friends over cute dresses

You know what is so great about the blogging community? The friends you might meet  because of one little dress. I found the Cupcake Countessa’s etsy shop first, and then I had to check out her blog.

Viola, new friend. As we chatted over things we have in common- blogs, vintage collections, too many accessories- we discovered that we might benefit from a dress swap.  Thanks, Jessa, love my sky blue dress with ruffles! And you look divine in the red gingham with those cute buttons! I am always up for a good swap. Keeps the closet fresh and my wallet full. Well, fuller than it would be otherwise, it’s never full.

Color blocking or random use of bright colors together, who decides?

I’m all for the color blocking trend, but frankly since plaid is my favorite color I am just not that good at it. I adore wearing orange in the fall. So when I pulled out this vintage orange dress I thought I’d add a shot of bright. In the form of purple… and velvet. I like to skirt the “tacky during daylight” line sometimes. 

How about you? How colorblocked are your pieces this year? Or are you ready to move on to less crayon box coordination?

Feeling floral but getting ready to wilt

We have had some really high temperatures already this Spring here in Texas…so why do I insist on a layered sweater? I love, love cardis all year round, the only thing that changes about them is the weight.

To combat the heat Texans blast the air conditioning everywhere from the grocery store to the movie theater…and I believe in being prepared. It’s that little bit of girl scout in me (I love all those pins they get too!)
